Designed by award winning Ollier Smurthwaite, this new mixed use development sensitively responds to the local surroundings, its form and the use of high quality materials and finishes creating a dialogue with the character and detail of the adjacent context.
Variety is created within the scheme by three distinct elements – a brick construction, a fibre cement facade with a pitched roof, and a ground floor plinth, all organised around a central courtyard.
Retail units are positioned on the ground floor, while residences are raised above to retain privacy.
Carefully proportioned openings and red brick faces match the style of nearby historic properties, while the fibre cement elements and modern, glazed shop fronts express the contemporary urban nature of the development.
The building composition and variation in roof forms creates visual interest and creatively interprets the existing character of the local area.
